Missouri Statewide Memorandum of Understanding

"Owed" to the Bridge Builders
as shared by keynote speaker Dr. Debra Peppers
December 13, 2006

I learned log ago, yes even before, education became my call,
When it comes to children - just as with clothing, don't tell me that "One size fits all!"

For even within families, we each are unique, adn yet in one way, all the same:
Every parent wants to provide the best for their child; when they can't, often they're NOT to blame!

So who will step up and offer their time, their work, their gift and their life,
to see just one child cross over that bridge that leads from poverty to strife?

Today the eight pillars of this bridge sign their names; how proud we all are just to know 'em,
But since Missouri is the "SHOW ME STATE", they'll do more than just sign it, they'll show 'em!

Yes timing is right for building this bridge, and at this special time of the year,
As Christmas is all about giving - so are you; and today that is why we are here.

ACF Region VII, Community Action and Directors, and School Administrators too,
Department of Education, Social Services adn Head Start, local and State, it's all up to you!

This Memorandum of Understanding we all understand, it's a bridge that you're building anew;
The gift that you give is for each special child; we applaud you and God bless you!
